Land that once housed the Marysville Power Plant is available for development. That’s according to Marysville Mayor Dan Damman who made the announcement on the WPHM morning show Friday. The parcel is owned by the Commercial Development Corporation who imploded the power plant in October of 2015 . Since then, the site has been at the center of a legal dispute between the property owner and several subcontractors. “People didn’t get paid… it was the perfect storm of bad things to happen,” added Damman, citing low scrap steel prices that added to the cost of demolition. Now that the site is cleaned up, and the dispute has been resolved, the mayor hopes to find a developer for the land. The site consists of about 30 acres along the St. Clair River along with 22 acres on the other side of Gratiot Boulevard. “It is back on the block and suitors are lining up to take a look at it,” Damman told WPHM. The property has been prized for both its commercial and industrial potential, as it sits on an active rail line and has access to a deep water port.
