The St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management says flooding in southern St. Clair County is imminent. As of Tuesday morning, officials say southern portions of the county along Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River could see water levels rise quickly to potential record highs over the next several weeks. Sandbags are available to area residents through Clay, Ira, and East China Townships or the City of Algonac Department of Public Works.  The St. Clair County Office of Emergency Management says residents should also prepare for potential evacuations. Although there are no orders at this time, officials urge residents to make a plan in the event of an evacuation. All residents should create a  disaster kit that includes medicine, vital documents, and food. Prior arrangements with friends and relatives should also be made in the event that homes need to be vacated. Damage due to the rising water can be reported to the St. Clair County Office of Emergency Management at by calling 989-6392 or via email at damage@stclaircounty.org. Please include your address, phone number, foundation type, amount of water in your home, and damage pictures in the email.
