The Port Huron Area School District could terminate an administrator accused of making racially charged remarks to students. Gregg Wagner, who was most recently athletic director and assistant principal at Port Huron High School, reportedly made a remark to a group of students earlier this month referencing slavery. In a statement to WPHM, Port Huron Schools Superintendent Jamie Cain says, “The Port Huron Area School District has no tolerance for use of racially offensive terms and, as a result, the District will be commencing the process to discharge the individual involved.” Cain further states that Wagner’s termination is subject to contractual obligations and due process, and apologizes for the remarks that were made. As of Tuesday Wagner was still listed on the Port Huron School’s staff directory however the title of Athletic Director and Assistant Principal was removed.

The Port Huron Area School District says an administrator at Port Huron High School is currently on leave after allegedly making racially-charged comments to a group of students. The district says they are currently performing an internal investigation regarding comments made by Port Huron High’s athletic director and assistant principal. He reportedly made an allusion to slavery to a group of students that included several African-Americans. Port Huron Schools, in a statement to WPHM, says they, “Take the concerns with these statements very seriously as this does not represent the standards we hold for staff and students at Port Huron Schools.”
