Man lifted from cargo hold of Coast Guard Cutter

A Coast Guard member who fell aboard the Hollyhock was rescued by the Port Huron Fire Department. According to Port Huron Fire Department Battalion Chief James Hayes, the man fell into the ship’s cargo hold Thursday afternoon. Hayes says fire and EMS crews were able to lift the injured man out of the cargo hold by using rope and the ship’s crane. The man was taken to an area hospital and is reported to be in stable condition with unknown injuries. Battalion Chief Hayes says nearly all of the Port Huron Fire Department’s units responded to the incident.
