Michigan gas prices are up about a dime over the past week according to AAA of Michigan, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday. The auto club reports the current statewide average daily gas price is $2.79 a gallon, which is 9 cents more than this time last week but 21 cents less than this time last year. Across the state the most expensive gas is in Ann Arbor and the least expensive fuel is in Traverse City. Locally, St. Clair county pumps are slightly below average at $2.74 a gallon for regular unleaded. AAA expects about 1.5-million Michiganders to hit the road this week for the Independence Day holiday, with prices at the pump expected to reflect the increased demand from holiday travelers.
