About half of the railroad cars that were involved in a Friday morning derailment have been removed from the St. Clair Tunnel, that according to officials from CN. The railroad says over 20 rail cars have been pulled from the tunnel so far and that crews are working around the clock to remove the rest. CN says their team of dangerous goods experts and third party contractors are in the process of removing sulphuric acid from the tunnel that spilled as a result of the derailment. Both the railroad and the St. Clair County Office of Emergency Management have stated that the cleanup efforts pose no risk to public health and safety. The cause of the derailment has not yet been determined.
