The Port Huron Fire Department as well as firefighters from Port Huron Township and Marysville put out a house fire last night on 16th Street. Batallion Chief Jeff Tucker tells WPHM the call came in around 6:30pm for a residence int he 1200 block of 16th, between Court and Union. “Crews were met by heavy smoke and fire conditions in the basement,” said Tucker. Fire crews were unsure at the time whether or not an individual was in the basement. Fire crews searched the basement and the house was determined to be unoccupied. Tucker says one firefighter sustained minor injuries from falling in the basement of the house. She was treated at the scene and released. Investigations into the case of the fire are ongoing.
