The Port Huron City Council will be meeting tonight in a regular session meeting. Council members will be asked to authorize the city clerk to hold a special election on August 3rd of this year for a revised recreational marijuana initiative submitted by Progress for Michigan. The amended proposal would change the current application process for prospective licensees. Also among the items on the agenda is the approval of nearly $52,000 dollars for new playground equipment at the tot lot at 11th and Division Streets in the City of Port Huron. A portion of the funding is expected to come from the Ralph C. Wilson Junior Foundation. A second reading and enactment of an ordinance is also expected tonight which would allow the city to remove cars parked in no parking tow away zones. Tonight’s city council meeting will be held at 7pm at the Port Huron Municipal Office Center’s Public Meeting Room. Tomorrow night, city council will also convene at 5pm to hold a public hearing on the proposed 2021-22 fiscal year budget.
