Pair of weekend crashes claim lives of two in St. Clair County

Two people have died after a pair of weekend crashes in St. Clair County. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, one died around 8am Saturday morning in a fiery crash in the area of Yale and Cribbins Roads in Grant Township. A pickup truck had left the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and their identity is currently unknown.

Also this past Saturday, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash at Miller and Bryce Roads in Emmett Township around 5pm. Authorities say a 17 year old Shelby Township male failed to yield at the intersection and struck a motorcycle. The motorcycle was being operated by 28 year old Joseph Smith of Port Huron who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
