A splash of color could soon be coming to the Military Street pedestrian tunnel in Port Huron. After being removed of graffiti by the City earlier this month, a group of local artists is hoping to paint a series of murals in the tunnel to help deter future vandalism. Jody Parman leads a Facebook group called the Blue Water Creatives and tells our Paul Miller she hopes to draw 40 different murals inside the tunnel with the help of other artists. Parman is currently collecting mural submissions to her Blue Water Creatives Facebook group. She hopes to have the finalists selected by the end of July with the murals being painted the weekend of September 11th and 12th. Parman adds that local muralist Dave Stoneburg, who did the mural on the Mi Mutual building, will be there to help instruct the finalists on creating their finished product.
