Local health officials will be setting up pop-up vaccination clinics next week during some of the largest summertime events in the Blue Water Area. Dr. Annette Mercatante, St. Clair County’s Medical Health officer, says the health department has partnered with Community First Health Centers to bring the clinics to summertime events. COVID-19 vaccination tents will be set up at next week’s 4-H fair at Goodells County Park and during the Boat Week festivities in downtown Port Huron.

“Unfortunately in our community we have stalled our vaccination rate under 50%, it really has not budged much at all in the past month,” said Mercatante. “We’re going to keep working on that and will be wherever we can be throughout the summer.”

Mercatante tells WPHM she is paying close attention to local COVID-19 data as the percent of tests that have come back positive has increased from under 1% to about 3.5% over the past week. St. Clair County’s vaccination rate is currently 49.8%.
