The Lakes Pilots Association is looking for the public’s help in naming the next Pilot Boat to be based out of Port Huron. The association has teamed up with the Community Foundation’s Gerry Kramer Spartan Fund to help offer a cash reward to the winning name, which will be chosen later this month. Dan Franklin from the Lakes Pilots Association says the boat will help deliver pilots to and from ocean-going vessels that navigate the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers.

“When you look at the entire Great Lakes region, between the United States and Canada, it about $6 trillion dollars in economic output that we participate in,” said Franklin.

Names of the Lakes Pilots Association’s previous boats include Huron Maid, Huron Belle, and Huron Spirit. Submissions can be made on the Lakes Pilots Association Facebook page or by emailing your name and idea to info@stclairfoundation.org.
