New trash cans, revised curfew on City Council’s agenda

Port Huron City Council meets Monday in another regular session meeting. Councilmembers will be asked whether or not to approve nearly $80,000 worth of American Rescue Plan funds to purchase and install 100 new trash cans for the Thomas Edison Parkway and Lincoln Park. Council is also expected to accept a donation from the Acheson Foundation to purchase a new Ford F-150 police truck valued at nearly $75,000.

The city is also seeking to revise the city’s curfew for minors. The ordinance currently states that no minor between the age of 12 and 17 should loiter or play in public streets or parks between the hours of 11pm and 6am. The proposed changes which has their first reading tonight seek to increase the age limit to 18 years of age. Port Huron City Council meets at 7pm at the Municipal Office Center.
