A non-profit organization charged with helping those recover from drug or alcohol addictions will be getting a big boost in funding from the Port Huron City Council. The Blue Water Recovery and Outreach Center will receive over $415,000 from the city’s federal COVID-19 relief fund. The money will be used to hire two new recovery coaches for the next three years, a new van for transportation to and from rehabilitation centers, and renovations to their building on 10th Street. Approved during a special session meeting Monday night, the Blue Water Recovery and Outreach Center will receive an initial $213,000 from city council this year. They will then be set to receive payments of $101,000 in years two and three.
