St. Clair Post Office named after fallen soldier

The U.S. Post Office in St. Clair will soon have a new name. A bill approved by Congress on Tuesday names the building after Marine Corporal Jeffrey Robert Standfest. He was a 2005 graduate of St. Clair High School and will killed a the age of 23 by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. The bill renaming the St. Clair Post Office in Standfest’s honor was introduced by local congresswoman Lisa McClain and received bipartisan support from the Michigan delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
