A fire at the Blue Water Energy Center in East China Township has been extinguished. According to a spokesperson from DTE, the fire occurred around 2pm Wednesday inside the boiler building associated with the combustion turbine generator. Area fire departments were assisted by plant personnel in putting out the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation and company officials believe it could have been caused by insulation that caught fire during construction activities. The new natural gas power plant began testing this past fall and is expected to be fully operational this summer
