Gas nears $4 a gallon as overseas tensions rise

Gas prices have jumped over 42-cents a gallon on average over the past week in Michigan.  That marks a new record high price for 2022, with an average now of $3.97 a gallon. According to AAA of Michigan, the cost of a gallon of gas is 60 cents more than this time last month and a$1.15 more than this time last year.
Crude oil prices continue to surge as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to bring uncertainty to the market. The most expensive gas in the state can be found in Marquette where it’s over $4-dollars a gallon. The least expensive fuel currently is in Traverse City where it’s $3.86.  Locally, Port Huron area pumps are asking $3.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
