Teen arrested for overnight drive by shooting

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest following a drive by shooting during the early morning hours Wednesday. A deputy who was on patrol in the area of 32nd and Petit noticed a suspicious vehicle around 1:20am. Multiple gun shots were heard minutes later in the area of Petit and 24th Streets.  The suspect’s vehicle was stopped shortly thereafter in the area of 32nd and Petit.

Six juveniles, including three males and three females were inside the car. Further investigations revealed that there may have been an altercation between a juvenile at the Petit St. house and a couple juveniles in the vehicle over the Independence Day weekend. The 15 year old male believed responsible for firing at the victim’s house was arrested and is currently in police custody with charges pending.  Additionally, charges are also being sought against two other suspects in the car.
