Proposed council rule changes dead on arrival

A proposal to cut the amount of public comments at Port Huron city council meetings from four to three minutes failed to receive enough support during last night’s meeting. Introduced by Mayor Pauline Repp, the proposed amendments to the city’s rules of procedures failed to receive a second in order to be discussed and voted on by council. Multiple public comments were heard against the proposed rule changes, which also would forbid the yielding of time to other speakers and would allow for the removal of individuals who interfere with the meeting.
