One dead after downtown fight

An altercation at a downtown Port Huron bar early Saturday morning has resulted in a person’s death. It happened in the 400 block of Quay Street where Port Huron Police responded shortly after 2am. Authorities say a large fight had been held down by bouncers inside the bar and when officers arrived, the individual being held down by bar staff was found to be unresponsive. Lifesaving measures were initiated by bar staff and first responders and the subject was taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The investigation into the death is being lead by the Michigan State Police, who are asking for witnesses to the incident to call them at (989) 673-2156. Port Huron officers were assisted at the scene by St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputies.
