ORIGINAL STORY:

Two were hospitalized following an overnight house fire in the 1100 block Varney Street. The Port Huron Fire Department responded just before midnight with multiple departments joining the effort including Fort Gratiot and Marysville. Varney was shut down between 11th and 12th for several hours for investigation. Two individuals were in the home at the time of the fire, one of which was a 91-year-old woman. CPR was performed on the scene before the victims were taken to an area hospital. Multiple sweeps of the two-story home were conducted in attempts to locate a reported third resident. It was later confirmed the missing person was not in the home when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
