St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputies and the Michigan State Police responded yesterday morning to St. Clair Middle School after a threat of gun violence was allegedly made on the social media app, Snapchat. Two youths, one of whom does not attend the middle school, and their parents were interviewed in connection to the incident. Both juveniles’ homes were also searched and it was determined that the threat was in no way credible. According to the sheriff’s department, neither individuals had access to firearms.

Police are once again reminding parents to have a conversation with children about internet safety and reporting suspicious activity to authorities. Classes at St. Clair Middle School were not interrupted due to the incident yesterday, and are expected to continue as normal this morning.
