The driver of a pickup truck has died after braking through the ice of a frozen pond near Memphis over the weekend. It happened Saturday night near Bordman and Wales Ridge Road when the truck left the roadway and possibly overturned, throwing one passenger from the vehicle. A second passenger managed to escape the vehicle and swim to safety. Members of the St. Clair County Dive Team were called to the scene and located the driver, who later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital, despite life-saving measures being taken at the scene. An investigation into the incident is still underway by the St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team.
