Crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation are set to begin clearing trees for a long anticipated Blue Water Bridge Plaza expansion project starting Monday. The removals will take place along Scott Avenue, Pine Grove, Harker Street, and Westbound I-94 from Garfield to the Black River Bridge. Trees are being removed in preparation for the first phase of the Blue Water Bridge Expansion project. Road closure signs have already gone up in some of those areas early in January. Work is expected to cause intermittent lane and shoulder closures along the eastbound I-94 exit ramp. MDOT expects crews to be finished with the tree removal by the beginning of April.
