Orange barrels will once again return to the Blue Water Bridge this summer. The Michigan Department of Transportation will be closing the eastbound span of the bridge beginning May 29th to continue a project that began last summer. Traffic will be rerouted onto the US-bound bridge during construction, with one lane going into Canada and the other into the US. Beyond the midway point of the bridge, each lane will widen into two, taking advantage of the center lane in hopes to lessen the impact on commuters. The project is expected to continue through October.
