Governor Whitmer is announcing a new 31st Circuit Probate Court judge in St. Clair County. Following the January vacancy of Judge Elwood L. Brown after 24 years on the bench, Jennifer Smith Deegan has been picked to fill the role. Smith Deegan has served in the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office since 1999, currently as Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and before that as a law clerk for three separate St. Clair County Circuit Court judges. She’s involved with the Blue Water Child Advocacy Center, St. Clair County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Council, and sits as Board Chair for Lake Huron Medical Center. Smith Deegan’s begins her partial term on April 8th, that term set to expire on January first of 2025.
