Drivers in Sandusky may have a harder time getting through town starting Tuesday. Both directions of M-46 between Elk street and Campbell Road, through Downtown Sandusky, will be closed and detoured. The project is part of MDOT’s multi-phase plan to invest over $26 million in rebuilding Sanilac County’s M-19 and M-46 over the next year and a half. Phase one coincides with plans to rebuild the city’s watermain and also includes replacing the M-46 bridge over the Black River, rebuilding the entire stretch of road, and other various safety improvements. Starting tomorrow, traffic will be detoured from Sanilac Road, to Campbell, then south to Miller.
