After a series of political moves following news that Andrew Beeler will not be seeking reelection to the State House of Representatives, Port Huron City Councilmember, Jeff Pemberton decided to throw his hat in the ring for St. Clair County Commissioner. Pemberton took to social media last night to announce his ambition to replace current Commissioner, Jorja Baldwin, who will not be seeking another term at the end of the year. Baldwin instead is running for the 64th State Rep seat Beeler is leaving behind in November. If elected, Pemberton would represent St. Clair County’s second district which covers a portion of the City of Port Huron, as well as the Townships of Burtchville and Fort Gratiot. Pemberton is currently running unopposed, but the Board of Commissioners primary ballot deadline is April 23rd.
