Three local Rite Aid stores are among the more than 150 Michigan locations the pharmacy chain is shutting down. “Closing” signs appeared this week at the Pine Grove Avenue and 24th Street stores in Port Huron, along with the Gratiot Blvd. location in Marysville. The company began bankruptcy filings this past fall due in part to litigation related to the opioid crisis. Since declaring bankruptcy, Rite Aid has reportedly closed more than 500 stores nationwide with fewer than two dozen locations in Michigan still remaining . Unless customers make other arrangements, the company has previously stated all prescriptions are being transferred to Walgreens stores along with all pharmacy inventory. The final day of operation at the three locations is still unknown, but store merchandise is quickly becoming scarce.
