Several of the larger and faster sail boats have already arrived at Mackinac Island, with the rest of the fleet expected to finish the 99th Bayview Mackinac Race by Monday evening. First across the line just before 2am Monday morning was the 80-foot long Mavrick from Kirtland, Ohio, some 36 hours after starting in Port Huron. Maverick’s corrected time however puts the boat at 12th place in Class A. On the shore course Eagle One, a 65 foot long boat from the Bayview Yacht Club is taking home line honors and finishing first in Class M, crossing the finish line around 3:15am.

Port Huron’s 50/50, owned by Steve Beeler and Tom Vigrass, was the first local boat to finish and 23rd overall across the line around 6am Monday. They will take home 3rd place in Class H. Cameron and Everitt Benedict’s Shape, also from the Port Huron Yacht Club, finished around 6:40am and with a corrected time is expected to finish 5th in Class I. Bayview’s Ted Everingham tells WPHM two boats had to withdraw from the race but there were no reports of serious damage or injury.
