The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard, trained deputies this week in ice rescue techniques. The training took place at Sandusky’s Woodland Hills Golf Course and at the Coast Guard Station in Port Huron. Sheriff’s deputies were trained in the use of life saving techniques to rescue someone who may have fell through the ice. Sanilac County Sheriff Gary Biniecki reminds citizens to be vigilant when venturing out on the ice and to remember that ice thickness can drastically vary with little to no indication.
