Three injured in Marlette area crash

Several people are recovering from a multi-vehicle crash in Marlette Township yesterday morning. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s department, a car driven by a 16 year old from Marlette was attempting to turn northbound onto M-53 from Clifford road when it was struck by a pickup truck operated by a 37 year old woman from Kingston. The teenager was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters using the jaws of life. Her and her 54 year old passenger, as well as the woman driving the truck, were all treated at the scene and later taken to a Lapeer hospital for additional treatment. The accident remains under investigation and all occupants were believed to be wearing their seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.
