Approximately 40 railroad cars jumped off the tracks in the international St. Clair River Tunnel Friday morning. Port Huron Fire Chief Corey Nicholson tells WPHM the train derailed inside the tunnel beneath the St. Clair River around 4:30am. CN officials have confirmed to WPHM that one car containing sulfuric acid had leaked in the tunnel but that it poses no danger to the safety of the public or environment. Furthermore, CN says there were no fires or injuries due to the derailment. The railroad is currently re-routing traffic over other rails and does not have an estimated time for when the derailment cleanup will be completed.  16th Street is currently closed at the railroad tracks as a result of the derailment and the public is asked to avoid the area.
