A man with a potential link to a Marysville bank robbery earlier this week has been arrested after leading police on a chase through downtown Port Huron. According to a joint news release from the Marysville and Port Huron Police Departments, a black Ford pick up truck believed to be occupied by the suspect was stopped near Union and Military Streets shortly after noon on Thursday. The suspect was in the passenger seat and took control of the vehicle after the driver was removed by police. The suspect lead officers on a high speed pursuit on Electric Avenue and then turned north on to Military Street. Police called off the chase due to concerns for the public’s safety. The truck was last seen near Gratiot and Hancock Streets. The original driver of the vehicle was questioned and released. About three hours later, around 3:30pm, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted by police in Detroit. The man was taken into custody by local, county, and state authorities without incident. Investigations regarding the suspect and his connection to yesterday’s robbery at the Marysville Chemical Bank branch is ongoing.
