December unemployment numbers nearly unchanged

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched down by a tenth of a percentage point to 3.9 percent in December. The Michigan Department of Technology,
Management & Budget says total employment grew by 6,000, while unemployment fell by the same number, resulting in no change in the state’s workforce total over the month. Michigan’s December unemployment rate was 0.4 of a percentage point above the national rate of 3.5 percent. Locally, Sanilac county’s unemployment rate was 3.4 percent. In St. Clair County last month, it was 3.7 percent.
