The Blue Water Area is expected to see a portion of the multi-billion dollars in bond funding proposed by Governor Whitmer and approved by the Michigan Transportation Commission. In a revised project list released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Transportation, 6.5 miles of I-69 in St. Clair County will see funding from the bonds. Slated for a total reconstruction later this year, the work would take place between roughly Riley Center Road and M-19. Portions of M-25 in the City of Port Huron and M-29 in Ira Township would also see construction work next year. In total, the state plans to borrow $3.5 billion dollars to fund 49 projects across the state. The majority of those are located in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.
